Meet The Partners
Mr. Farris serves clients by providing retirement planning, estate planning strategies, investments, and risk management advisory services. He develops the investment strategies and handles the portfolio management for The Farris Group’s investment portfolios. He has spent his entire career helping high net worth families and businesses manage their financial affairs. Prior to establishing The Farris Group, Mr. Farris was a Financial Advisor with Raymond James and Associates where he obtained the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional designation. During his years at Raymond James, he analyzed individual investments and was the lead equity trader for the office’s most prominent hedge fund. This experience is where he gained the real world investment knowledge of money management and how to apply research and investment thesis into actionable ideas.
Mr. Farris is a graduate of Rice University, where he received a BA in Economics and also played for the College World Series Champion Rice University baseball team.
Jim entered the financial services industry after spending 30 years with one of the world’s largest industrial distribution companies. He rose to the level of Executive Vice President where he had full P&L responsibility for a region with revenues in excess of 170 million and over 1,000 employees. In those 30 years, he was taught the value of true customer service and developing lifelong relationships with clients. He attended Southern Methodist University where he played football and graduated with a BBA in 1974. Mr. Farris is actively involved with the SMU Letterman’s Association, the Dallas Arboretum and the Dallas Museum of Art.
